How do I create a commuting survey?

Our commuting survey feature enables you to gain valuable insights into your wider community’s commuting habits, including how students and staff travel to school.

This is a premium feature available with a full subscription to iAM Compliant.

Understanding commuting data is essential for driving broader behavioural change, refining your net zero strategies and strengthening your Climate Action Plan.

Please note that this feature requires precise geolocation data, if you haven't yet provided the UPRN for your location you will be directed to do so before you can proceed to create a survey.

To start creating your survey, navigate to the Sustainability menu and select Commuting Surveys.

Then, under the 'In This Section' header in the side bar menu, click on Create a Survey Invite.


Next, give your survey a name. We suggest using the name to help identify the period of time it covers, for example a term.

Here, you will see a recommended message for survey recipients which you should personalise to better suit your audience when inviting them to participate in the survey.

If you have provided a logo for your location, this will be included in the invitation message. If you've not yet uploaded a logo, you can do so in your location settings page.

Finally, choose a date for the survey to be sent after. If you select today’s date, the survey will be sent out the following day, giving you ample time to input the list of recipients, which is done in a subsequent step. Once you've added participants, you will be offered the chance to send the survey out immediately if the date you selected is today's date.

To save your survey, select 'Save commuting survey'
